30 years ago, when I went to massage school, there was only one type of massage-Swedish Massage. Today this work is considered "Medical or Therapeutic" Massage. I treated athletes, helped people rehabilitate, renew/regain function after injuries or surgery, worked with Chiropractors, and often helped stressed people relax to increase the quality of their life. Swedish Massage, when mastered, remains the all around, perfect type of body work. It "flushes" fascia, reducing fluid retention (pain), increasing circulation (immune system) for general health.
Years of hands-on experience (25,000+ hours), continuing education with physical therapists (Robin McKenzie, H. Duane Saunders, PT,MS), medical and osteopathic doctors, (Scott Haldeman, MD, PhD, Philip Greenman, DO, Stephen Davidson, DO, Jeff Rockwell, DO), body workers in special techniques (Tom Myers, James Waslaski, Teri Rogers, Yamuna Zake, Elaine Stillerman), as well as Myotherapy, Neurofascial Release, Visceral Manipulation, (St John's) Neuromuscular, Lymphatic Drainage, Sports and Deep Tissue Massage, Kinesiology, KinesioTaping Method, Massage for Cancer and Fibromyalgia Patients, Jin Shin Jyutsu, Polarity, Cranial Sacral and advanced studies of anatomy and physiology have enhanced my skills and ability to "feel" and "see" where to focus.
My goal is to reduce or totally eliminate your pain, increase your function and explain to you how and why to modify your posture and gate. Relying on my experience and trainings, I will focus attention where needed to move excess fluids from your fascia, loosen tight joints, facilitate healing, as well as relax your muscles and ground your spirit.
